About the role
Every Framework First home sits on a foundation our own crew builds. We are hiring foundation and concrete workers at two levels: Foundation Crew and Foundation Lead. You apply once, and we place you at the level and rate your experience earns.
This is an on-site job. You work at our clients' properties, not in the factory. You drive your own vehicle and meet the crew at the job site every day, where your day starts at 7:30 AM and ends at 4:00 PM. We give you the next job's address and plan ahead of time.
We build homes and ADUs in our own factory in Salinas and set them on foundations across Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara counties, with occasional projects in San Luis Obispo County. That means ongoing foundation work with one company, not chasing the next bid. Weather does affect this job: rain and wet ground can push a pour or shorten a day.
The two levels
- ·Foundation Crew, $30–$38/hour: mostly slab foundations. Layout, excavation and grading, forming, rebar, anchor bolts and hold-downs, pouring and finishing, working to a plan set alongside the crew.
- ·Foundation Lead, $38–$45/hour: everything Foundation Crew does, plus you run the pour. You read the foundation plan, set out the layout, direct the crew, check the work against the plan before inspection, and keep the job on schedule.
What you'll build
- ·Mostly slab-on-grade foundations for homes and ADUs, with an occasional perimeter or raised foundation.
- ·Layout and string lines from the plan set, excavation, grading, and base prep.
- ·Forming, rebar placement and tying, anchor bolts, hold-downs, and embeds set to the plan.
- ·Pouring, vibrating, screeding, and finishing concrete, then stripping forms and cleaning up the site.
- ·Getting each foundation ready for the inspector and ready for the crane day when the home arrives.
Who you are
- ·3+ years of foundation or concrete work for Foundation Crew, 5+ years for Foundation Lead. Slab-on-grade experience is a must.
- ·You can read a foundation plan and build to it: layout, forms, and rebar to spec.
- ·You own your work: punctual, safety-minded, reliable, and accountable for what you build.
- ·Able to do physical work outdoors all day, in all seasons.
- ·A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to get to job sites across our service area.
Job specifics
- ·Location: on site every day at client properties across Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara counties (and, less often, San Luis Obispo County). Our home base is 1610 Moffett Street, Salinas, CA 93905. This is an in-person job. Nothing about it is remote.
- ·Schedule: full-time, Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM at the job site. Hours can vary with the weather: rain and wet ground can delay a pour or shorten a day, so weekly hours are not guaranteed. Some weekend days when a job calls for it, often to make up a weather day or hit a pour date. We schedule those ahead of time.
- ·Pay: $30–$45/hour depending on level (Foundation Crew $30–$38, Foundation Lead $38–$45). Your experience sets your level and rate.
- ·Benefits: health, dental, and vision coverage (launching late 2026, for full-time employees and for part-time employees who regularly work 20 or more hours per week; eligibility is based on hours actually worked, and hours not worked, including weather days, are unpaid), 401(k), paid vacation/holiday/sick, and an employee discount.
How to apply
Apply at apply.frameworkfirst.com. Send your resume or work history, the types of foundations you have built, and when you can start. Tell us about the toughest foundation you have poured.
What happens next
We read every application. If your experience fits, we start with a short phone or video conversation, then meet you in person.
In the interview we walk through the foundations you have built and how you run a pour. Your experience decides whether you start as Foundation Crew or Foundation Lead, and where you land in the pay range.
Good fit, fast offer.
