Carpenter

We are hiring carpenters at two levels right now: Craftsman and Lead Craftsman. You apply once, and a paid working tryout on our factory floor decides which level you start at and where you land in the pay range. Your work sets your rate, not your resume.

We build in our own factory in Salinas, a real operation with a full factory floor and office, room to grow, and a craftsman trainer with 40+ years in the trade.

Your week splits roughly 50/50 between our factory, where you build homes start to finish, and client job sites. On-site work is part of this job, not an occasional favor: when a home is delivered, you are required to work at the client's property, setting the home, finishing, and punch-list items. That is about half of your time, across our Tri-County service area (Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara counties, plus occasional projects in San Luis Obispo County). We give you advance notice before every on-site day. You drive your own vehicle and meet us at the job site, where your day starts at 7:30 AM and ends at 4:00 PM, the same hours and the same pay as a factory day.

• ·Craftsman, $35–$45/hour: you frame to spec, install windows, doors, and siding, and handle finish work, building to a plan set on your own.
• ·Lead Craftsman, $45–$55/hour: everything a Craftsman does, plus you set the standard on the floor, leading a section, directing and correcting other carpenters' work, and keeping builds on spec and on pace.

• ·Rough framing to spec, weatherproofing, and structural work.
• ·Window, door, and siding installation.
• ·Roofing, interior finishing, flooring, and final detail work.
• ·On-site set and finish work when a build calls for it: final touches, punch-list items, and getting a home ready for the client at delivery.

• ·3+ years of framing or residential carpentry for Craftsman, 5+ years for Lead Craftsman.
• ·Confident with the tools and able to read a plan set and build to it, working independently.
• ·You own your work: punctual, safety-minded, reliable, and accountable for what you build.
• ·A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for on-site days across our Tri-County + SLO service area.

• ·Location: 1610 Moffett Street, Salinas, CA 93905 (our factory) is your home base for factory days, and you are on site about half the time across Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, and Santa Clara counties (and, less often, San Luis Obispo County). This is an in-person job. Nothing about it is remote.
• ·Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (40 hrs/week), steady hours and a paycheck you can count on. On an on-site day you are expected at the job site, not the factory: your day starts there at 7:30 AM and ends there at 4:00 PM.
• ·Pay: $35–$55/hour depending on level (Craftsman $35–$45, Lead Craftsman $45–$55), about $72,800–$114,400/yr at full-time 40-hour weeks. The paid tryout sets your level and rate.
