If you’re a homeowner considering adding an ADU to your property, listen up. As of September 20, 2021, the CalHFA ADU Grant Program is willing to assist homeowners with up to $25,000 that can be reimbursed for pre-development cost necessary to build and occupy an ADU. This is HUGE, and further solidifies the growing popularity of ADUs across California.
How do I find out if I qualify?
You can learn all about this incredible information on the California Department of
Housing and Community Development website, www.hcd.ca.gov.
BUT WAIT! At the bottom of the article there is a direct link for all of there amazing ADU information, so you don’t get lost – they have tons of information, but more on that in a different blog. Here’s what you should see when you hit the link at the bottom (there could be a few changes depending on the time you’re reading this , however it should look pretty close to this):
From there you can hit their quick link that will send you to the exact space in the article that has the information related to the grant. It should look like this.
The red arrows are pointing to three links that should give you some background information on whether or not you qualify, how to qualify, what’s it used for and so much more. Overall, after reading these three you should have a much better understanding of how the grant works – don’t worry, the PDFs are brief! Also, don’t be afraid to check out these links either! They have a lot of wonderful information on ADUs and the new funding laws.
